When you apply ice, it numbs the area and hinders viral activity. After a while, when you remove the ice and the temperature rises, blood rushes to the area and the white blood cells that rush in with the blood further inhibits the viral activity, providing extended relief.

A frozen tea bag is just as effective at relieving the itching and pain. Place a tea bag in the freezer for an hour. Apply on blister applying gentle pressure and keep for about 5 to 10 minutes. Place tea bag back in the freezer. Repeat at least 4 to 5 times a day.

Baking Powder

Baking powder has been used since ancient times for treating a wide range of conditions including herpes. Simply dusting the blisters with baking soda helps soothe the itching and the pain.
